2013年考研英语翻译试题的特点表现在以下三个方面:1. 五个句子超纲或较难的词汇较多;2. 句子结构有些太复杂，有一些句子比较难分析;3. 话题也是广大考生所不熟悉的。

文章选自一本小品文集:gardens: an essay on the human condition .不出意外，英语一的翻译文章，出题人特别喜欢从某一书中去改编。这句话主干是when one looks at the photographs it strikes one 当一些人看到花园照片的时候，它让人们感到震撼。looks at，对应的宾语是 the photographs of the gardens,因此翻译成“观看”。created by the homeless 是过去分词短语充当后置定语，用来修饰 the gardens。diversity of styles各式各样的，fundamental urges，基本的需求，文章主题是花园，是照片，所以speak of引申为表达了，展示出这样的意思。
参考译文: 然而，当我们看到这样的照片，看到那些无家可归者所创造的花园之时，感到了深深的震撼:尽管它们风格多样，但这些花园道出了其他的根本需求，而非停留在装饰美化或是创造性表达。
47. a sacred place of peace, however, crude it may be, is a distinctly human need, as opposed to shelter which is a distinctly animal need.
however crude it may be,是让步壮语从句充当插入语; as opposed to shelter which is a distinctly animal need.是比较状语从句。
参考译文:一方神圣的净土，不管它有多么简陋，它都是人类必不可少的。它跟巢穴截然不同，巢穴只是满足了动物的需求
48. the gardens of the homeless which are in effect homeless garden introduce from in to an urban environment where it either didn’t exist or was not discernible as such.
这道题的考察重点是定语从句，其中 which are in effect homeless garden是定语从句修饰 the gardens of
the homeless; 定语从句where it either didn’t exist or was not discernible as such修饰先行词 an urban environment。
参考译文:无家可归者的花园实际上是无人问津的花园，它们是引入到城市环境中的一种建筑类型，它要么不存在，要么本身不易识别。
49. mast of us give in to a demoralization of spirit which we usually blame on some psychological conditions until one day we find ourselves in a garden and feel the oppression vanish as if by magic.
参考译文:人一旦失去了花园，没有了花草树木，大多会陷入精神萎靡的状态，还常常以为是内心在作祟。而当有一天我们发现自己置身花园，那些不快的感觉便神奇的消失不见了。
50. it is this implicit or explicit reference to nature that fully justifies the use of the word garden, though in a “liberated” sense, to describe these synthetic constructions.
it is this…that…是强调句型，还原成正常语序后句子表达为“this implicit or explicit reference to nature fully justifies the use of the word garden”;though in a“liberated”sense是插入语。
参考译文:正是这种与大自然之间的或明或暗的关联使花园这个词——虽然指的是“广义”上的花园——恰如其分的形容了这些人造建筑。
